Grand Dishes is a cookbook that was written by an English grandmother. Grandma, who was 75 years old, said she was an "improvising baker." She had a fascinating life story. In her early twenties, she and her husband moved to Uganda. They brought iodine capsules to local women, and made peanut stew for hospitalized patients.

How To

How to make a perfect Omelette

Omelets are a favorite breakfast food of mine. How do you make them perfect? I've tried many different methods and recipes, but none of them seem to work! So I am sharing some tips and tricks today to help you make fluffy, delicious omelets every morning.

It is important to know that eggs can be temperamental when making omelets. They must be fresh, preferably from the organic market, and be kept cold until cooking. You must keep them cool enough to allow the whites to form properly and the yolks to become too runny if they're not kept at the right temperature. This causes your omelets to look oddly colored. If you plan to cook the eggs right away, it is best to use room temperature eggs.

Another tip is to separate the egg before adding it to the pan. It is important not to allow any white to mix with the yolk as this could lead to the omelet becoming curdled.

The egg can burn if it is placed directly on the stovetop. Instead, heat the egg in a microwave for 10 seconds and then place it in a pan. The microwave heat will cook the egg just right without making it too hot.

Let's now talk about mixing eggs. You want to mix the eggs thoroughly before you add them. You can do this by turning the bowl of your mixer upside down. Now shake the bowl vigorously. The egg will be thoroughly mixed in the bowl as the air is whipped.

Now comes the fun part - pouring the milk into the mixture. First, pour half of the milk into the beaten eggs and then fold the eggs gently into the remaining milk. Do not be alarmed if there are still egg streaks visible. Once the omelet flips, these streaks will disappear.

After you have folded your eggs, heat up the oil on medium heat. Wait for it to get hot. Once the oil begins to heat, add 1/4 cup butter and swirl the pan to coat it. Open the lid and sprinkle salt on the pan. The salt will help to prevent the omelet's sticking to the pan.

Once the omelet forms, cover the pan again. Let the top side set completely. Flip the omelet upside down or with a spatula. Cook the opposite side for another minute. Serve immediately after removing the omelet from its pan.

This recipe works best using whole milk. Skimmed milk is also possible.
